Against the background of many very “low-cost” planes and massive “dinosaurs” with a Soviet pedigree, the Ryobi EPN7582NHG looks small and almost toy. But, nevertheless, it is a fairly solid tool with a decent 750 watts of power "under the hood". Therefore, the knives do not slow down during operation and cope well even with knots, which are often found in wood of different species.

Easy to operate, set up and adjust

Thanks to the wide handle, the planer is comfortable to hold both with a bare hand and a gloved hand. A distinctive feature of this model is the start button in the form of an oblong key. It can be pressed anywhere. Therefore, the index finger will not get tired of the trigger if you work a couple of hours in a row. In addition, the planer is great for left-handed people, because it has a double-sided dust extraction. Thanks to the spring-loaded heel, you can put the tool on the table without waiting for the drum to stop completely.

The thickness of the layer to be removed can be adjusted from 0.2 mm to 2 mm (in 0.2 mm increments). When changing the depth, the rotary knob clicks (it is impossible to accidentally reset the settings). The planer can choose a quarter to a depth of 12 mm. The front sole is molded and the back is stamped. The forefoot has three V-grooves (0.5mm, 1.0mm and 1.5mm deep) for accurate chamfering. The machine comes with a semi-rigid plastic case, which also contains a dust collector, a rip fence and a set of double-sided knives.

Minor flaws are compensated by the price

The Ryobi EPN7582NHG is considered one of the best planers for the home workshop. Of course, it also has disadvantages (for example, the power cable is hard and uncomfortable, like almost all Ryobi tools, and the dust outlet is sometimes clogged with large chips). But you can turn a blind eye to these shortcomings, if you remember the low price of this planer.
