Flexible drilling machine
The Scheppach DP 19 Vario is equipped with a single-phase motor. Its power is 550 W - it is quite enough not only for home carpentry, but also for plumbing work. The design of the device gives the impression of a reliable and durable. The base and base plate are made of cast iron. On the base is a thick and durable steel column with a diameter of 60 mm, which holds the motor assembly. The machine has a rotary design and can rotate left and right around a vertical axis. This ability comes in handy when you have to drill a workpiece that does not fit on the table (having a size of 198x194 mm). And the table itself can move up and down the rack, rotate around the column and tilt 45° to either side, allowing you to find the most comfortable position for work. The chuck can hold tooling with shanks from 1 to 16 mm in diameter. It is quick-clamping (tightened by hand, without a key), which saves a lot of time when you need to change drills often, switching from processing one part to another. The spindle travel is 60 mm. In the process of work, the user can control the immersion depth of the drilling drill along the limb with a clear marking and limit it with the help of a stopper.
Automatic transmission
The word Vario in the name of the machine means a variator - a continuously variable belt transmission. The user can change the spindle speed (in the range from 440 rpm to 2580 rpm) using the handle on the left side of the "head". It can be adjusted with great precision - up to 10 revolutions per minute. So, unlike many other machine tool manufacturers, Scheppach doesn't have you climb under the transmission cover and manually switch the belt from one pulley to another every time you need to change speed. You simply turn the handle lightly and smoothly - and the speed changes, and its current value is displayed on a digital display. Therefore, a drilling machine with a stepless variator allows you to quickly and accurately select the optimal speed modes, depending on the characteristics of the material being processed and the size of the drill clamped in the chuck.
Quality Notes and Drawback Notes
The Scheppach DP 19 Vario gives the impression of a solid piece of equipment at first sight. It even looks much more aesthetically pleasing than outbred "state employees". The machine is made of high-quality materials (for example, the variator pulleys are aluminium), there are no casting defects on the cast-iron parts, and flash on the plastic elements. The manufacturer is so concerned about creating a favorable impression that he even immediately put a couple of batteries into the box, which are necessary for the operation of the laser marker.
But it was not without drawbacks. We found one: during the operation of the machine, the transmission cover and engine casing vibrate strongly with a terribly annoying sound. This is easily “treated” with the help of improvised means (just put rubber bands under the covers or fix them with electrical tape), but it’s still strange that the manufacturer ignores such a “feature” of their equipment.
Scheppach - drilling machines for every taste
In the segment of drilling machines for the home workshop or small production, Scheppach has a whole sea of \u200b\u200bproperties. Like the DP 19 but won't fit the workpieces on it? Here you have the Scheppach DP 18 Vario with longer quill travel and a larger table, but it costs a little more. Do you want a cheaper option, and the variator is not really needed? Then you can buy a Scheppach DP 16 SL with a traditional belt drive. Is a 550W motor too much for a garage workshop? Take the 350-watt Scheppach DP 13. And after making sure of the proper quality of Scheppach products, later the collection of equipment can be replenished with a lathe, grinder or compressor of the same brand.
