The Comfort of a Blanket and the Lightness of a Cocoon

The Sea To Summit sleeping bag stands out for its unusual design, which combines features of both a blanket and a cocoon. From the cocoon, the model inherits a slightly tapered lower part — the shape is not rectangular but closer to trapezoidal, along with very lightweight and compact dimensions. The sleeping bag itself weighs just 550 grams and, when packed, takes up about 3.5 to 5 liters in volume, depending on the level of compression in the regular case.

Meanwhile, the Sea To Summit Traveller Reg offers more freedom for the feet, fully unzips, and can be used as a regular blanket if needed. Additionally, both top and bottom have drawstrings that allow you to adjust the size and level of thermal insulation.

The Advantages of Down

One of the main advantages of the model is the natural down insulation. It uses RDS-certified material without harmful additives, complemented by a water-repellent treatment. The down ensures the sleeping bag's light weight — its mass is 230 grams — and excellent thermal insulation properties, allowing for a comfortable night's sleep at temperatures as low as around +7 to +11 degrees Celsius. These figures are, by the way, confirmed by ISO 23537-1:2022 standard testing.

However, the use of down has affected the price — the sleeping bag turned out to be quite expensive. There's also another somewhat ambiguous aspect of the design: the zipper does not go along the bottom edge, meaning instead of the usual L-shaped scheme, an effectively I-shaped one is used. As a result, the lower part does not close completely but is only drawn with a cord, so a small opening, and with it a potential cold bridge, still remains. On warm nights this is unlikely to cause discomfort, but in mid-season, you will need at least an extra pair of socks.
