The SJCAM SJ5000X Elite is a compact action camera with a comfortable small body and ribbed edges that prevent accidental button presses. It features a high-quality Japanese Sony sensor, delivering excellent video quality, especially in FullHD at 60 fps and HD at 120 fps. The camera offers software stabilization that effectively reduces video shakiness and allows for adjustable viewing angles from 70 to 170 degrees. It includes a two-inch screen for easy navigation and previewing footage, and can connect to a smartphone via WiFi using the SJCAM Zone app. The battery life supports up to 80 minutes of FullHD recording. However, night video can be noisy, and the UltraHD (4K) resolution is achieved through interpolation, which may not match the quality of a dedicated processor. Despite these drawbacks, the SJCAM SJ5000X Elite is a strong competitor to GoPro, offering similar features at a significantly lower price.

It's practically impossible to press them accidentally, and even intentionally achieving a confident press is initially not so easy. )) The camera is equipped with a high-quality Japanese sensor from Sony, so the video quality is radically different from other SJCAM cameras equipped with Chinese OmniVision sensors. It shoots great FullHD video (1080p) at 60 fps, HD (720p) at 120 fps, and even high-speed WVGA (480p, 800x480) at 240 fps. There is also 2K-video shooting at 1440p at 30 fps, but to me, it is no better than 1080p. I didn't really believe in software stabilization, but it actually works. The video becomes much less "jerky." The viewing angle can be changed stepwise, with settings available for 70, 110, 140, or 170 degrees. There is a decent two-inch screen, which is sufficient for a preliminary review of the footage and convenient menu navigation. It can work with a smartphone via WiFi and the SJCAM Zone app. It's convenient and all the settings available in the menu are accessible. The battery lasts for 75-80 minutes of FullHD video shooting, but that's in "greenhouse" home conditions. Super configuration. Noisy night video. In principle, it can and should be further processed through noise reduction filters, which alleviates the issue, but with such a cool sensor, one would expect better. UltraHD or 4K video, as it's called, is obtained through interpolation. Can the camera do this better than a full-fledged computer with a modern multi-core processor? The question is rhetorical. By the way, shooting in UltraHD forcibly drains the battery and even noticeably heats the camera. |

Video recording
At the heart of the camera is a 12.4-megapixel sensor from the most reputable player in the market for photo and video modules — Sony. It is capable of recording videos in 4K format (3840x2160 pixels) at 24 fps, but not in "native", but in interpolated resolution (that is, artificially increased by analyzing data from neighboring pixels). In FullHD (1920x1080 pixels), videos are written at a speed of up to 60 fps. The maximum aperture of the complete lens is f / 2.8, and its angle of view is 170 °. The field of view can be programmatically reduced to 140°, 110° or 70° in order to weed out the excess from the frame.
Display
The body of the action camera has ribbed edges, which will protect it from slipping out of your hands. But he will collect fingerprints well. The entire back face of the "brick" is given over to a 2-inch screen with a resolution of 960x240 pixels. It greatly simplifies the sighting process and allows you to do without a smartphone when taking photos or videos. Use cases
The functions of motion sensor and cyclic video recording allow the SJCAM SJ5000X Elite to reorient itself into a surveillance camera or a DVR. In the latter case, the action camera will record videos of 3, 5 or 10 minutes in length. and automatically turn on when power is applied. In standalone mode, the camcorder can stay on for about an hour when shooting 4K video with Wi-Fi enabled, or an hour and a half when recording video content in FullHD format.
