Pair of cables included
Despite being marketed as an inexpensive PC gamepad, the Sven GC-2040 impresses with its versatility and ability to make friends with the PlayStation 3 and an army of Android smartphones, tablets and TVs. To connect the gamepad and charge the battery, you can use a Bluetooth receiver, a classic USB cable, or an additional OTG cable, which negates the possible delays and lags of a wireless connection.
Optimal layout
In terms of design, the guys at Sven took a bit from everywhere. The layout of the buttons and the overall design are borrowed from the DualShock: a pair of symmetrical sticks in the centre, a D-pad on the left, 4 main buttons on the right, 4 triggers on the sides. And this is logical, because Microsoft completely lost the last rounds of the console wars, which is why most gamers are used to Sony gamepads. At the same time, the trigger scheme was borrowed from the Xbox controller: classic horizontal “bumpers” are located on top, and vertical “triggers” are hidden under them. Well, the angular design of the gamepad in general terms resembles either the controller from the Nintendo Switch, or the mobile set-top box NVIDIA Shield.
Works almost flawlessly
In the work of Sven GC-2040 proved to be surprisingly competent and correct. It was identified by the system as an Xbox gamepad without any problems and also connected to the test tablet and smartphone without any problems. iOS devices are not supported. In the hands of Sven GC-2040 lies very comfortably, although the rounded edges in the DualShock style would have added to it even more comfort. The buttons work clearly and have good responsiveness, the sticks do not drift and do not fall into zero zones, the bumpers sometimes creak, but no frills. Of the pluses, we highlight a couple of built-in vibration motors with adequate feedback. In gamepads of this level, this is a rarity. In general, despite the outright cheapness, it is difficult to make any claims to the GC-2040. And we won’t take it to court about durability, then time will tell.
