A NAS server from the 2023 DiskStation series with advanced tools for storing, sharing and backing up data, as well as synchronization between different devices from Synology. It is positioned by the manufacturer as an advanced solution for home or commercial use. Thanks to its compact form factor, it is suitable for office spaces without requiring a dedicated server rack or data center.
The model is equipped with a 2-core AMD Ryzen R1600 processor (frequency from 2.6 GHz to 3.1 GHz) with support for multi-threaded data processing and expandable DDR4 RAM with a capacity of 4 GB in the basic version and 32 GB in the maximum. The disk subsystem is represented by four slots for classic 3.5” drives and two slots for NVMe M.2 2280 SSD drives, which can be used for caching to optimize data exchange speed.
External connectivity includes two gigabit LAN ports, two USB 3.2 gen1 ports, and one eSATA. The proprietary Synology DSM operating system features a user-friendly web interface for data management. The built-in Hybrid Share service provides the ability to efficiently store “cold” data in the cloud. The Active Backup Suite function allows you to consolidate and automate backup tasks. The device’s functionality includes integration with virtual machines, the ability to work as a web and FTP server, backup, multimedia functions with DLNA support, and the ability to use it as a video surveillance server with support for 8,300 different IP camera models.
