The TFA 351133 home weather station looks more like a stylish interior element than a device for determining the indoor and outdoor microclimate. A distinctive feature of the device is a large colour display (94x79 mm), the elements on which are arranged in an intuitive sequence.

Power supply

The colour screen is more “gluttonous” in terms of energy consumption than monochrome solutions. As a result, the main power source for the weather station is 230 V electrical networks — the device is connected to them using a power supply. However, on the back of the weather station case, there is also space for two AAA batteries, which serve to save user settings during an unplanned power outage. A remote sensor with a thermometer and a hygrometer on board is powered by "little finger" batteries on an ongoing basis.

Quartet of blocks

The screen of the head unit of the weather station is divided into 4 separate blocks: its left part is given over to the weather forecast icons (clear, partly cloudy, cloudy, chance of precipitation), and the right part consists of three more consecutive lines. The upper one is used to show the temperature and humidity of the air outside (including the minimum and maximum temperatures per day). The line in the middle displays similar parameters of the microclimate in the room. And the lower block shows the day of the week, date and time, which is automatically synchronized by the DCF-77 radio signal. It is also used to set an alarm clock with a useful snooze function.

Communication radius

It is advisable to position the remote sensor for determining temperature and humidity in such a way as to minimize direct sunlight and precipitation. In the line-of-sight zone, it transmits the results of measurements to the base from a distance of up to 60 m. But even if this figure is halved, the signal transmission radius is quite sufficient to organize a reliable data transmission channel in a private house or large apartment.
