Powerful 500GB internal M.2 SSD with fast PCI-E Gen3 4x (NVMe v1.3) interface. It features impressively high sequential/random read/write speeds (up to 3430/2600 Mbps) and impressively low latency. It is positioned as a product of the middle price category, designed for high-performance gaming systems, consumer personal computers and mid-range workstations (without server functions and high-intensity streaming recording). It has a frameless design, meets the dimensions of the 2280 form factor, and is compatible with a wide range of current models of motherboards. The hardware basis of the WD Black SN750 NVME SSD WDS500G3X0C is a high-performance SanDisk 20-82-00701 8-channel controller with a 512 MB DRAM buffer based on DDR4-2400 memory. Sandisk's high-quality 64-layer 3D TLC NAND BiCS3 fl...ash memory is used to store user data. An interesting feature of this model is the support for a special gaming mode Gaming Mode. When activated, the Western Digital SSD Dashboard disables power-saving features, reducing latency during initial data access. To remove the heat generated during intensive operation of the drive, a small plate of heat dissipator.

One of the fastest PCI-E 3.0 SSDs

The WD Black series appeared on the market back in 2012 and since then has always been associated with flagship products for gamers and enthusiasts. Therefore, it is not surprising that the fastest SSDs in the arsenal of Western Digital are produced in this series. For example, the new WD Black SN750 is one of the fastest M.2 SSDs that runs on a PCI-E 3.0 4x bus.

Almost a record

The drive uses 64-layer 3D TLC NAND flash memory chips of its own production. Additionally, a 512 MB buffer RAM chip is soldered. Sequential read speed is 3430 Mbps and sequential write is 2600 Mbps. The indicator of random reading and writing of the smallest 4K blocks also did not let us down — 380 and 420K IOPS, respectively. The volume of the fast virtual SLC cache is 8 GB, but even after it is full, the speed drops only by half — up to 1300 MB / s. This indicates the use of selective flash memory, because often with such drawdowns, the speed drops by 4 or even 5 times.

Don't Forget Cooling

Just be sure to pay attention to the fact that there are versions on the market with and without a radiator. The fact is that this SSD is built on the basis of a powerful three-core controller, which balances the exorbitant speed with noticeable heating. Plus, the drive itself supports a special game mode that disables power-saving features and further contributes to heating. It is no accident that the creation of such a seemingly simple thing as a radiator was left to the mercy of experienced specialists from EKWB. However, many modern motherboards in the middle and higher price segments are equipped with their own M.2 heatsink.
