Popular Japanese musical instrument manufacturer Yamaha first released the APX series of electric acoustic guitars in 1987. Currently, there are only three models left in the lineup, effectively replacing all the others, and the most popular of them is the APX700II. We note right away that in addition to 6-string versions, the model is also available for left-handers and 12-string, and is offered in 5 colours: vintage sunburst, brown sunburst, natural, black, sandburst.
Case features
The mini-jumbo body shape combines smoother lines with a thinner body (80-90mm deep) for improved playability. At the same time, the sound remains bright and juicy, but more accurate and soulful compared to standard Jumbo or Dreadnought cases.
Materials and design
The top is carved from a single piece of spruce, while the back and sides are made from nato. The fret markers, logo, and headstock ornament are beautifully inlaid with mother-of-pearl. By the way, the model has an increased number of frets — 23 versus 20-21 for a similar range of models from other brands with a classic scale of 25.6", that is, they have a slightly smaller width, which means that it is easier to play solo parts.
Design features
For maximum resonance inside the case, one-piece X-shaped mounts are used. Along with reduced dimensions, this also guarantees additional strength and stability of the deck structure.
Electronics
The System 64 One Way ART is a versatile 80Hz-10kHz full-range preamp that delivers soft bass, smooth mids and punchy highs.
The guitar comes with Yamaha or D'addario strings, a damper to eliminate feedback, a hex wrench to adjust the truss rod, and a pair of batteries for the preamp. But she doesn’t have a pickguard and a cover, but she could have been for such a price.
In general, the model is reliable, very comfortable, with good sound, both with and without connection, but there are competitors that are not worse and cheaper.
