When assembling the PC, we first installed the GAMEMAX GP-550, 550W. However, in heavy games like The Witcher 3, it started to rattle. Then we replaced it with the Zalman ZM600-TX. It also rattled a little under high loads (albeit much quieter) and then stopped. And now it has been working for six months. These units are installed in two gaming PCs. Mine and my spouse's. We are satisfied. Hasn't let me down yet Not found. |
Boosting efficiency
Zalman ZM600-TX is an affordable 600 W PSU that even comes with an 80 PLUS energy-efficiency certification. This certification means the PSU’s efficiency is at least 80 percent regardless of load: idle, half, or full. In other words, the lion’s share of electricity turns into useful work (powering PC components) and only a small part into waste heat.
Protected
On the main +12 V rail, the ZM600-TX can deliver up to 48 A of current, which equals 576 W — almost 100 percent of the PSU’s total rated power. Meanwhile, the +5 V and +3.3 V rails are 20 A each. All kinds of protections are implemented: overvoltage (OVP), undervoltage (UVP), short circuit (SCP), overpower (OPP), and overcurrent per channel (OCP).
Reach for the sky
The ZM600-TX’s cables aren’t detachable (non‑modular), but they’re very long. The most troublesome for hidden routing — the 4+4‑pin CPU power lead — is a full 65 cm (most PSUs in this price range are usually no longer than 55 cm). Plus, the wires are flat ribbon‑style, which further helps with tidy cable management. There are two 6+2‑pin GPU power connectors.
More than promised
Cooling is handled by a large 140 mm fan made of clear plastic so its blue lighting is easy to see. At a light load the fan spins at a barely audible 750 rpm, at half load a still moderate 1200 rpm, and only at maximum load does it ramp up to 1500 rpm. By the way, the Zalman ZM600-TX can briefly operate at a peak load of up to 770 W. That’s almost a third above its rating and is a testament to the high reliability of the PSU’s components.
