2-in-1 echo/slap delay and boost effects pedal that can be used as an always-on enhancer or as an overdrive for small wattage amplifiers. The right side of the pedal is the boost side. This boost is a discreet amplifier based circuit with tons of power and character. It can be simply set it low at unity gain for an always-on enhancer that fattens up and clarifies the tone, or turned more clockwise to push the tube amplifier into sweet natural overdrive. The EarthQuaker Devices Hizumitas was designed for the one and only Wata from the legendary experimental band Boris, one of the heaviest bands ever to come out of Japan. Hizumitas is a faithful recreation of Wata's go-to distortion pedal, the Elk BM Sustainar. The Elk is a Japanese variant of the very well-known Triangle BMP. Other companies need a lot of buttons for a good sound, we only need 3 for each overdrive pedal and 2 for the clean boost pedal. From slightly distorted bass with tube sound character to completely distorted - no problem for the LDP (OD/CB). The overdrive pedal has a deep boost (toggle switche) to push the lower frequencies without getting muddy. The clean boost with deep boost (toggle switch) gives a lot of pressure to the sound and up to +20 dB (toggle switch) output level. The Royal Blue Overdrive is an extremely touch sensitive overdrive. It offers a wide range of tones from light overdrive into distortion and at lowest Distortion knob setting works as an EQ. It can also be used to create tube amp-like crunchy ‘strike hard for distortion’ effect. There is not much filtering on the overdrive, to provide a transparent tone that you can tailor with both the Treble and Bass controls.
