— coaxial high-frequency connector with miniature dimensions — its diameter is almost three times smaller than that of N-type or RP-TNC connectors. It is identical in size and general design to the RP-SMA connector, however, it has the opposite polarity and a different distribution of contacts: in the original SMA, the “father” (male) contact is located on the plug, “mother” (female) — in the socket, in RP-SMA — vice versa . For a number of reasons, RP-SMA turned out to be more preferable for Wi-Fi and 3G equipment, and the original SMA was not widely used.
