Silica gel

— fillers based on silica gel — a synthetic material in the form of characteristic transparent crystals. Silica gels have unsurpassed absorbing properties: they absorb moisture almost without residue, perfectly retain odours, while remaining dry to the touch and easy to clean. Such compositions are not cheap, but this is offset by the cost-effectiveness of use: the filler has to be changed on average once a month, the rest of the time it is enough just to remove solid waste. But their unambiguous shortcomings can be noted that the crystals have rather sharp edges and, when stepped on, emit a rather loud crunch; the first may not be liked by cats, the second — also by the owners.
