— an optical version of the S/P-DIF interface that allows digital transmission of multi-channel audio (up to 8 channels). Unlike the coaxial interface (see the relevant paragraph), the optics are absolutely not subject to electromagnetic interference, however, the TOSLINK cable used for such a connection must be handled carefully, without strong bends and pressures.
