— sodium-ion batteries are a modern alternative to lithium-ion systems, using sodium instead of lithium as the charge carrier. The main advantages are the availability and low cost of raw materials, environmental safety, and resistance to low temperatures. Their characteristics are similar to lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries, but they have less energy density, increased weight, and larger dimensions. Sodium-ion batteries handle multiple charge/discharge cycles well and do not require scarce materials.
