SAS is a SCSI-based interface that is mainly used for high-end professional hard drives, in particular server HDDs. SFF-8643 is one of the connectors used for this connection, along with some other varieties. Up to 4 drives can be connected to one such connector (up to 8 when using a dual connector). The data transfer rate with such a connection can reach 22.5 Gbps, although it can be limited to 12 Gbps specifically in this connector.
