The main differences between ZigBee and Z-Wave are the high security of communication channels from hacking, as well as the ability to provide high response speed. The downside of these advantages is the higher cost of implementing this protocol, while speed and security are usually not a key factor in smart plugs. Therefore, devices for this communication standard are produced somewhat less than for Z-Wave.
