Other advantages of this material include a lower melting temperature, the absence of an unpleasant odor (when heated, it emits a faint caramel aroma), and the ability for PLA to be semi-transparent and even luminescent (see FPLA). However, finished products made from it are more brittle and less durable compared to those made from ABS.
