The Wedi construction boards are waterproof, heat-insulating, adaptable, lightweight, dimensionally stable, and rapid to produce, and they can be installed on nearly any surface. A blue core constructed of extruded polystyrene rigid foam makes up the core of the Wedi building board. Both sides of the rigid foam are strengthened with glass fibre (with an alkali-resistant finish) and a polymer-modified cement coating. Wedi construction boards are suitable for use in rooms with a constant temperature. The use of Wedi construction boards on flooring in rooms with a typical domestic load has been permitted. Wheeled loads with a high concentration of weight are not allowed.
