— a type of lock used exclusively in interior doors. These locks are most often mortise locks (see the corresponding section), with handles installed on both sides for opening the door, and on one side, a lock (either turn-style or in the form of a button or other device). When the lock is engaged, the handles are blocked, making it impossible to open the door in the usual way. This type of lock is particularly popular for bathroom and toilet doors, as it allows you to lock the door from the inside. However, they can also be used on doors in other rooms where a higher degree of privacy is needed.Note that locks may have devices for opening from the outside. These can be either key locks or devices in the form of a disk with a slot, which can be turned with any flat object (such as a screwdriver or a coin).
