Protective bumpers look like thin plates that are attached to the crib with ties. Such plates are made of fabric with a soft filler. They perform several functions at once. First of all, it is actually protection, and in several directions at once. Firstly, the sides protect the child from drafts. Secondly, they reduce the risk that the baby will hit the grate — and this is true not only during wakefulness, when the child is actively moving, but also during sleep (after all, babies can spin in their sleep). Thirdly, thanks to the sides, the arms and legs of the child do not fall between the bars of the lattice, which again reduces the risk of injury (this point will also be especially important if there is a cat or dog in the house). And if the additional side does not reach the upper edge of the lattice, it can also serve as a support for the baby, who is learning to stand up and walk on his own. It is also worth mentioning the aesthetic function: such accessories give the crib an interesting appearance.

Protective bumpers are usually produced in complete sets — on all 4 sides of the crib (headboard, backrest, sides). Before buying, it's ok to clarify the size of individual bumpers and their compatibility with the crib; however, this is usually not a problem.
