Respirators

— respiratory protection devices operate by filtering inhaled air, distinguishing them from masks, which primarily act as "droplet screens". Unlike masks, respirators are designed as filters with a primary focus on safeguarding the wearer. They feature a sturdier design for a close fit to the face and may include an exhalation valve in certain models.

From a medical perspective, these products are ideal for protecting healthy individuals from infections transmitted through airborne droplets. Especially in high-risk environments, it's preferable for medical staff to use respirators rather than masks. It's important to note that respirators come in various protection levels; complete biological protection is only offered by FFP3-class products, although it may not be necessary as frequently. Also note that, in addition to medicine, respirators are widely used in other areas of activity where protection from dust, smoke and other air pollution is required — in construction, when processing wood and metal, etc.
