FFP2 class medical respirators
FFP2
— respirators in the medium protection class offer approximately 94% filtration of airborne particles sized 0.3 microns or larger. They are appropriate for scenarios where the maximum permissible concentrations (MPC) of pollutants are exceeded by less than 10 times, and in certain models, up to 12 times. These products are deemed suitable for protection against toxic and carcinogenic dust, with FFP2 being the minimum class for effective defense against continuous exposure to liquid aerosols. In medical terms, these devices can withstand infections transmitted through droplets and many airborne bacteria but do not offer protection against airborne viruses. Therefore, it is reasonable to use respirators of this class primarily for household prevention of "droplet" infections like the flu and COVID-19. They are also suitable for general medical institutions where the infection risk is not high. However, models with a valve are generally unsuitable for such purposes; refer to "Additional — Valve" for more details.
