Reusable respirators are rare due to the challenge of balancing adequate protection with resistance to common sterilization methods.

The primary advantage of reusable models is evident: instead of discarding a dirty mask and purchasing a new one, you can sterilize it for reuse. While these masks may be pricier than disposable ones initially, the cost difference quickly pays off with regular use. However, proper sterilization is crucial and must be conducted according to guidelines; otherwise, the mask may become an incubator for infection. Reusable masks are less common and are primarily designed for domestic use.
