Often, the role of such an indicator is played by an audible signal, which turns on if the refrigerator door remains open or not tightly closed for a long time. This reduces the chance of "letting the cold out" by spoiling the contents. And in some models, such a signal is also supplemented by a light indicator that confirms the correct closing of the door — this provides additional insurance against violation of the rules for using the refrigerator.
