Socks are often provided with mesh inserts for ventilation and moisture removal, and wide cuffs for good fixation on the legs. Specifically for cycling in wet or cold conditions, socks made from natural fabrics (in particular, merino wool) are produced, which retain heat longer, dry faster and reduce sweating.
