— BD (Blu-ray) discs were created as a further development of optical discs, after DVD. The standard capacity for this type of single-layer media is about 25 GB. This makes these discs suitable for high definition movies (Full HD and even higher) with multi-channel audio and multiple soundtrack options; in fact, Blu-ray has gained popularity primarily as a video medium, although technically such discs can be used for any type of data.

The RE mark is for Blu-ray discs intended for re-recording. At the same time, modern technologies make it easy and simple to write and delete files: for example, in the latest versions of Windows, this is less difficult than working with an external hard drive or flash drive.
