Windows 8.1 software
Windows 8.1
— a version released in 2013 as a development and improvement of the original Windows 8 — in particular, to eliminate certain shortcomings of this system. The original 2012 Windows 8 introduced updates such as support for new authorization methods, deeper integration with web services, advanced data recovery tools, and a brand new Metro interface (Modern UI), more focused on touch displays than the classic icons of previous versions. Windows 8.1, in turn, received a modified kernel, an expanded set of "native" Metro interface applications, further strengthening of integration with web services and energy saving improvements. For some time now, Microsoft has taken a course to oust this OS with the newer Windows 10 (in particular, through a free upgrade to Windows 10), but Windows 8.1 is still a very popular solution. This OS is available commercially in two main editions. The first is standard Windows 8.1, designed for home use; the second is Windows 8.1 Pro, for business and enthusiasts. The latter is fully functional, all the features of the G8 are available in it, in particular, the encryption system and remote desktop in host mode (these features are disabled in the home edition). Other editions are not officially available for purchase.
