GPS navigators with Wi-Fi

 

— initially, Wi-Fi technology was used for wireless connection to computer networks and access to the Internet through wireless routers, including at public access points (in cafes / restaurants, hotels, airports, train stations, etc.). Relatively recently, another way to use this interface has appeared — a direct connection between two devices (for example, a navigator and a smartphone). Accordingly, the ways of using this technology may be different, depending on the general functionality of the navigator itself. In some models, Wi-Fi is used to receive service data — about traffic, weather, etc.; in others, to update maps; and in models running full-fledged operating systems (for example, Android), even full-fledged web surfing, using instant messengers, video calling, etc. is available.
