This design provides, above all, convenience when replenishing the water supply: removing the tank and filling it separately is often easier than pouring water directly into the steamer body. A detachable tank is noticeably more convenient than a non-detachable one when cleaning. And in some models with this feature, it is possible to refuel with water during operation, without turning off the heating and without depressurizing the boiler; however, the presence of this possibility is still worth specifying separately.
