Quite an interesting variation on the theme of the original PlayStation 3. On the one hand, the new console has lost a memory card slot and half of the USB ports (Slim has 2 of them). On the other hand, the volume of the built-in storage has increased to 120 GB (in the minimum configuration), and power consumption has decreased by 30% with the same hardware basis: 8-core processor with 3.2 GB, 256 MB of RAM and a Blu-ray drive. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, integration with the PlayStation Network and even the installation of additional software from the PlayStation Store.

From a technical point of view, this console is outdated: the processor frequency is only 294 MHz, the RAM is 32 MB, and the overall set of features is not comparable to the successor to the PlayStation 3. On the other hand, version 2 has long been one of the standards, and it is written for it a huge number of games. The set-top box can be used as a media centre for watching movies from DVD with 5.1 sound; in addition to optical discs, memory cards are also supported. The package includes a DualShock2 joystick.

Compared to its predecessor, it has acquired a much more powerful hardware platform: for example, the processor has 8 cores at 3.2 GHz, the amount of RAM is 512 MB, it has its own drive (from 20 to 80 GB) , and supported media include Blu-ray and memory cards. An HDMI output appeared, and Wi-Fi (optional) and Bluetooth were added to the communications set. In addition to the original games, it is also compatible with games for previous versions of the PlayStation.
