Compared to AirPlay, this is primarily the Google and Android/Chrome ecosystem, along with a convenient integration with multi-room setups through compatible speakers and device groups in Google Home. Typical use cases include: playing Spotify/YouTube Music on the living room soundbar, quickly "casting" audio from a YouTube video on the TV to the more powerful soundbar speakers, making background music while cooking and controlling it from the phone, or combining the soundbar with other Cast devices in the house for synchronized playback.
