Since car refrigerators were not originally designed for use in residential premises (as a replacement for normal refrigerators), this option is usually provided along with a standard 12-volt connection (see the relevant paragraph). At the same time, 230 V power plays an auxiliary role: it allows, for example, to load the refrigerator in advance and keep it at home connected to the socket, and install it in the car before the trip.
