Riding mowers
Mini tractor
— lawn mowers equipped with a seat and designed so that the operator rides directly on the machine during work, and does not walk next to it. Note that this category actually includes two types of garden machines:— Actually, minitractors are the most powerful and heavy type of mowers. They have a front engine, and the mowing deck is installed from below, between the front and rear axles. They may include the use of other attachments, and with different installation options: under the bottom instead of a deck (sweeping brush), in front (dump, snow blower), behind (cultivator), etc.; specific possibilities for working with such equipment should be clarified separately.
— Riders — a lightweight and simplified analogue of a minitractor, with an engine mounted at the rear and a mowing deck in front (other equipment is also installed there, if such a possibility exists at all). Riders have relatively low power, but they are more manoeuvrable, better suited for cramped conditions, and the front position of the deck allows you to get to places inaccessible to a mini tractor — for example, mow under park benches, close to fences / trees, etc.
Both riders and mini tractors are equipped with internal combustion engines (most often gasoline). Given the high cost and bulkiness, it hardly makes sense to use such a technique in small areas; but in vast areas (especially where it is necessary to solve different types of tasks), it can be simply irreplaceable. Examples include mowing the grass on a football field or maintaining the grounds of a country hotel; in the second case, with the help of a minitractor, you can mow lawns, sweep paths, remove snow in winter, etc.
