Lawn mowers with spindle blade attachment
Spindle knife
— a cutting tool consisting of one fixed knife and several moving blades arranged in the shape of a cylinder and rotating around a horizontal axis. Each of the moving blades alternately passes by the stationary one, which ensures cutting of the grass caught between the blades. Such nozzles are used exclusively in traditional lawn mowers (see "Device"), and mainly in a rather specific variety — hand-held models without an engine, where the nozzle rotates due to the rotation of the wheels when the user pushes the mower in front of him. In fact, this is the only type of nozzle available for such units — it is inconvenient to use a bladed knife in manual models.Occasionally there are also spindle models with an engine — gasoline or electric; they provide a cleaner cut than the more popular rotary mowers, but are more expensive and less effective in thick grass, so they have not caught on. The main area of application for motorized spindle mowers is the maintenance of golf courses, football fields, etc., where the quality of the cut is of key importance.
