Expandable design

— sliding design allows you to increase the working length of the level; thus, during storage, transport and relatively "short" measurements, the instrument remains relatively compact, and if necessary, it can be made even longer. At the same time, we note that such a design adversely affects the measurement accuracy and strength of the tool, and also increases its cost and weight. Therefore, only large levels are made sliding, with a working length of 3 m or more — a fixed level of this size would be too bulky and inconvenient, while the sliding design allows you to make the tool relatively compact (usually less than 180 – 190 cm).
