However, the principle of operation remained the same: when a flint strikes hard flint, small chips are cut out of the flint, which ignite in air and form sparks. With such sparks, flammable tinder can be set on fire, and a full-fledged fire can already be made from it. In modern flints, the flint is usually made from hardened steel, and the flint is made from a special alloy, the so-called. misch metal, which easily forms sparks. Also note that such products can be supplemented with other devices — a whistle, an opener, a tinder compartment, a magnesium bar for cutting chips into tinder, etc. And the small size of the flint allows you to build it even into the clasp of a paracord bracelet.

A separate type of flint is the so-called. "Eternal match". Actually, the “match” in such devices has the form of a metal rod, at the end of which there is both an armchair and a tinder in the form of a wick soaked in a combustible composition (usually gasoline). "Box" is a small container into which a few drops of gasoline are poured before use. In the stowed position, the “match” is tightly fixed in the “box” hole, also playing the role of a cork; thus, the fuel does not escape, and the wick remains constantly moistened. To use it, it is enough to remove the rod and strike the flint on the side of the “box”, which plays the role of flint — the sparks will set fire to the wick, and a flame will ignite at the end of the match.
