The developer is a fine metal powder, the particles of which transfer the toner (see the relevant paragraph) to the printer's photoconductor. Unlike toner, developer is not consumed during printing; and the need to replace it is due to the fact that as it is used, the powder loses the necessary properties and the print quality decreases. Such a replacement, usually, must be carried out in specialized service centres. However, the resource of the developer is usually several times higher than the resource of the toner, and it is not often necessary to resort to such steps.
