Spice grinders

— a specific type of device for spices, used mainly as pepper shakers. In accordance with the name, the mill not only "puts out" the spices, but also grinds them just before adding them. The design of such models provides for a special handle or head that needs to be twisted during use; a mechanism is connected to the handle/head, which grinds the peppercorns or other similar kind of spices located inside, after which these spices are poured out of the bottom of the container.

Thanks to this format of operation, devices of this type are deprived of some of the disadvantages of classic pepper shakers — such as the tendency to clog holes with use and the need to fill finely ground pepper inside. The mill, in fact, itself brings the spices into the optimal form for consumption, and the grinding mechanism is designed so that during operation it is self-cleaning and particles of spices do not linger in it. The design may even provide a grinding fineness regulator. Note that such devices can also be used for salt — however, initially it must be very large so that the salt particles spill out only after grinding.
