Residual heat indicator

— an indicator that warns the user about an uncooled burner. It is relevant for electric burners, especially solid plate ones (see "Type of electric heaters"). Such an indicator at least reduces the risk of burns when touching a working or recently turned off the hob. In addition, it can also warn about reaching the operating temperature (or at least that the burner has turned on normally and heating has begun).
