General purpose engine with circuit fuse

 

— the fuse protects the motor circuits (and in some models, the electronics of the machine on which it is installed) from damage during short circuits and overloads: if the current increases sharply, the fuse opens the circuit. Such equipment is found mainly in heavy engines equipped with electric starters.
