Extendable design

— the sliding design means that the selfie tripod has several sections and its length can be changed by folding and unfolding them. Most often, the sections are sliding (hence the name), with a telescopic principle of operation, but occasionally there is another option — sections on swivel mounts (the so-called adjustable leg). Such tripods in a semi-unfolded, and sometimes in a fully unfolded state, do not have a straight, but a zigzag shape.

Anyway, the expandable design is the only viable option for tripods over 300mm long: without the ability to fold, such devices would be too bulky for comfortable storage and transportation.
