PoE

— power over Ethernet (PoE), where one cable simultaneously provides both communication and power to a device, without the need for a separate 12V unit and extra wiring. This format is particularly convenient in security and IP-based video surveillance systems: the siren becomes part of the network, making it easier to place where a twisted-pair cable is already laid, and power can be centrally managed on a PoE switch with a UPS, ensuring the alarm works even during a power outage. Compared to a regular 12V wired siren, PoE offers a neater installation and the ability to remotely monitor the device's status, but it is more demanding on infrastructure: a PoE switch/injector is needed, alignment of standards and power budget is important (e.g., 802.3af/at), and for outdoor installation, you must plan for water protection of the connector and lightning protection of the line. Example: an office with IP cameras and a PoE switch — a PoE siren connects in the same cabinet, and the cable runs along the same route; or a private house where the PoE network is already set up around the perimeter, and the siren is mounted on the facade without separate power supply.
