— a timer that counts down how long the charger has been running in fast charge mode and, on most models, turns off the power after a predetermined time (although only a warning signal may be provided). In fact, such a timer combines the functions of a charging indicator and overcharging protection (see above) — these functions are difficult to use in the “fast” mode for a number of reasons, so you have to resort to this trick.
