This floral pattern takes its inspiration from the masterful work of Arthur Wilcock, a renowned designer commissioned by eminent textile and wallpaper producers of his time. The artists importance for more→the decorative textile industry and wallpaper trade increased in the 19th and 20th centuries. Wilcock in particular was much used by Liberty of London in the 1890s for their Art Nouveau furnishing fabrics. He also became director of the furnishing textile company, Newman, Smith and Newman and was on the council of the Design and Industries Association, a group formed to bring together modern manufacturing techniques.
