Shuttlecock — a projectile that players throw to each other with rackets — consists of a massive head and light feathers. Feathers can be made from natural feathers or plastic; each option has its own advantages and disadvantages. So, in professional matches, only feather shuttlecocks are used, which is directly provided for by the rules. At the same time, plastic is stronger, more durable, and much cheaper; therefore, for intensive training, amateur matches and outdoor games, plastic models are recommended.

Anyway, shuttlecocks are the main "consumables" in badminton: they wear out pretty quickly and are easily lost. Therefore, such "consumables" are most often sold in sets of 3 – 6 pieces — this is more convenient than buying shuttlecocks one at a time.
