Carbon and fibreglass

GRP is glass fibre (see the relevant paragraph) combined with a plastic filler. This material is quite strong and flexible, it tolerates high loads well; in terms of reliability, fibreglass is somewhat inferior to pure fibreglass, however, it also costs less. It is used mainly in low-cost and medium category umbrellas. Carbon fibre, in turn, is considered a premium material: with a small weight, it has a very high strength, however, it is not cheap, and therefore it is found mainly among rather expensive umbrellas.
