Porcelain stoneware tiles
Porcelain stoneware
— a specific type of ceramics, made in many ways similar to ordinary tiles, but in properties close to natural stone (the same granite — hence the name). However, gres differs from tiles both in composition and production technology — in particular, pressing is carried out at higher pressures, and firing at higher temperatures. This is the reason for the specific properties of porcelain stoneware. And they include, in particular, high strength and reliability, as well as resistance to temperature extremes. The latter is due to the fact that this material practically does not absorb moisture, and its structure is uniform throughout the entire depth — like a natural stone, but without heterogeneities, cavities and foreign inclusions. Thanks to this, gres is excellent for both interior and exterior decoration. In addition, it is extremely resistant to abrasion and chemicals, including quite aggressive ones. And the surface of such a tile can be matte or glossy, smooth or embossed, have various patterns, etc.The disadvantage of this material is traditional — it is primarily a high cost.
