— hoses designed to connect taps to the water supply. Most often they are made of rubber, supplemented on the outside with a braid of special threads — such a braid provides additional strength, in particular, prevents damage to the product during water hammer. The traditional material of the outer layer is stainless steel. Other options — aluminium and nylon — are much less common: the first is unreliable and short-lived, and the second is very durable, but expensive and designed mainly for industrial plumbing systems.

Another type of hose of this type is bellows: they look like metal tubes, the flexibility of which is ensured by the corrugated surface, and there is no rubber in the design at all. Such hoses are noticeably more expensive than traditional ones, but they are much more reliable and can be used not only in domestic water pipes, but also in special systems with liquid temperatures well above 100 °C.

Speaking of temperature, it is worth saying that classic tap hoses can be made for hot, cold water, or for both options at once (universal models). It makes sense to use products with a narrow temperature specialization when there is a guarantee against abnormal modes — for example, if the house is supplied with cold water from a well, and a boiler is used to heat it. It is better to connect mixers to centralized water supply systems using universal hoses — this will give an additional guarantee in case of emergency situations (a classic example is the disappearance of hot water).

The operating temperature on tap hoses is usually marked with coloured braided threads: hot — in red, cold — in blue. Universal models, respectively, are indicated by two colours at once.
