XREAL Air

Compact AR glasses available in entry-level and mid-range price segments, these were the first mass-produced product by the Chinese company Xreal, marking the beginning of a new era of affordable wearable displays. XREAL Air is positioned as a lightweight and stylish accessory, visually resembling sunglasses, but with the ability to project a virtual screen for viewing content, playing games, or displaying useful information in real-time.

The visual system is built on two micro-OLED displays with deep black levels, offering a resolution of 1920x1080 for each eye (combined 3840x1080), a refresh rate of 60 Hz, and a field of view of about 46° (equivalent to viewing a 130-inch screen from a distance of 3 meters). The device supports two usage modes: full immersion with an included plastic shade that blocks external light, or augmented reality mode with transparent lenses, allowing virtual objects to overlay the real environment.

Built-in speakers in the temples with noise cancellation and echo suppression provide quality sound without the need for headphones. The technological setup includes a set of sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, proximity sensor) for basic head movement tracking and interface adaptation. The glasses connect via USB-C with DisplayPort Alternate Mode support to a wide range of devices, including smartphones, laptops, and gaming consoles (PS5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck).

For iPhones, an Xreal Beam or Apple Lightning Digital AV Adapter is required. To avoid adding weight with a built-in battery, the glasses are powered by an external source. Standout features include the ultra-lightweight design and the ability to project a virtual screen, making them ideal for real-time content viewing and immersive gaming. The high-resolution displays and versatile connection options further enhance the appeal of these AR glasses.
